The significance of the first day is to adore Goddess Shailaputri. She is a form of Parvati, holding the significance of ‘shaila’, meaning extraordinary. Often Goddess Shailaputri is worshipped to reach a high state of consciousness. Honour yourself as ‘shaila,’ wear Shailaputri with Geetanjali.


The significance of second day is to adore Goddess Brahmacharini. She is a form of Parvati, in which she went through extreme penance. This day becomes sacred to meditate, signifying ‘Brahma’- divine consciousness and ‘achar’- behaviour. Flaunt beauty of purity with Brahmacharini.


The significance of third day is to adore Goddess Chandraghanta. The significance of sixth day is to adore Goddess Katyayani. She is an incarnation of Maa Durga, shown to exhibit courage and known as the warrior goddess, she is considered one of the most violent forms of Devi. The significance of seventh day is to adore Goddess Kalaratri, most ferocious form of Maa Durga. This day is for worshipping the fiercer form of the goddess, one which represents the dark night. With Kalaratri put an end on negative energies and destroy the fear of darkness.


The significance of eighth day is to adore Goddess Mahagauri. She signifies inner beauty and freedom. Worshipping her on the eighth day means inviting that energy within a person to propel forward and be liberated. Wear Mahaguari, wear Peace and Compassion.


The significance of ninth day is to adore Goddess Siddhidatri. Sitting on a lotus, she is believed to possess and bestows all types of Siddhis. She is worshipped for going beyond the logical mind to explore more and can grant 26 wishes to devotees. Welcome Maa Durga with Siddhidatri, with all the warmth to her home. According to a popular belief, Maa Durga visits her paternal around home around this time of the year and after staying there for a few days, she returns to Lord Shiva. The immersion ceremony represents her journey back home.
