PRAMODINI : Beige Hand Embroidered Sujani Tussar silk saree

Let's welcome Maa Durga with full devotion, happiness and vigour and celebrate your favourite festival in Style.

Sujani is a form of embroidery originating from the Bhusura village of Bihar in India.

The Sujani embroidery work of Bihar, is a textile expressive art product, given protection under the GI registration act. Sujani is said to have originated around the 1920s and was only practiced by the Rajput women. The word “Sujani” is derived from the words ‘su’ which means facilitating and ‘jani’ meaning birth. Quilts for new-born babies were made by stitching together colorful patches of old clothes and then Sujani embroidery was done with colorful threads to create motifs and designs.

On this soft & pure tussar silk saree, we have hand embroidered borders in simple Sunani form and the pallu has Minimalistic floral buttas and parrot motifs. We have ysed mutiple colour threads to craft this classy and subtle piece of art.

This is our small effort at Geetanjali to promote this genius textile art of Bihar and also help these genius women to continue this timeless craft.
