In this saree we have depicted the Kohbar painting which is an integral feature of Madhubani painting, painted on the wall of the nuptial chamber or the kohabaraghar.
 
Kohbar (nuptial chamber) painting is supposed to have started some 2500 years ago when the palace of Mithila at Janakpur was painted with this artwork to herald a blissful, conjugal life for bride Sita and groom Ram. Since then, what is known as kohbar painting has been customary on the walls of the nuptial chamber during the solemnizing of marriage in Mithila. The kohbar paintings draw and decorate the Moon, Sun, Tortoise, Snake, Lotus, Shankha, Fish,Kalash and Bamboo trees . The nine planets or navgraha is also given room in this painting to confer blessing on the newlyweds. The Bride and Groom are also represented here.The kohabaraghar is designed to promote peaceful co-existence, fertility and prosperity.
 
We have handpainted the aanchal and body of the saree with fish, bootas and border motifs of Madhubani with utmost precision and love. The saree is an exquisite amalgamation of the Bhagalpuri Linen saree dipped into handpainted Madhubani with love by the artisans of Bihar. A piece of heirloom worth cherishing and treasuring forever !
